And now for something completely different, except it’s the same thing at a different time.
The City Council will meet in public at approximately 5:30 p.m. tomorrow instead of the usual 9:00 a.m. on request of councilman Don Vardeman and public interest, prefaced by an executive session to be held at 4:30 p.m.
This will be a trial to see if evening meetings work out better for parties interested in attending meetings that normally cannot get off work.
The meeting will reach dramatic heights as the council discusses the city’s continuation in Texas Water Partnership, as well as a request by Councilwoman Farmer to discuss the dissemination of information to the media, both of which resulted in raised voices and allegations at the Sept. 17 meeting.
Both items on the agenda being important as the Texas Water Partnership between Midland, Abilene and San Angelo has far surpassed the $100,000 cap the city placed two years ago.
The mistake was widely publicized by Councilwoman Charlotte Farmer, who recorded two YouTube videos acusing city staff of ignoring the intent of City Council, and revealed confidential information during the Sept. 17 meeting.
Other items of note on the agenda are the deliberations of public safety on Gun Club Hill Road at Lake Nasworthy, the Red Arroyo Hike and Bike Trail Project is nearing completion, second discussions on last meeting’s zoning items, and decisions on watering local parks and cemeteries.
The meeting will begin after the executive session, which is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
