SAN ANGELO, TX – A man pleaded guilty Tuesday morning for sexual assault of a child.
On June 1 2017, deputies with the Tom Green County Sheriffs Department arrested Elijah Ramirez, 20, for having sex with a girl that he knew was under the age of 17. Ramirez was charged by the 51st District Attorney for sexual assault of a child on January 30 2019. Assistant DA Tiffany Sheppard was the prosecutor.
Ramirez's first pretrial hearing was scheduled for February 28 but was rescheduled due to the his defense attorney having back surgery nine days prior. The hearing was rescheduled for March 26 and Ramirez took the plea deal given to him.
Ramirez was booked into Tom Green County Jail for roughly 30 minutes and was then released after being processed. Ramirez paid a $500 fee and will have to be on probation for one year.
If he makes it through the complete calender year without another offense, the case will be dismissed.

PermalinkThe police cannot release specifics on age, gender, race, etc... of a victim if they are under the age of 17. That’s why there is no further information.
