BRENHAM, TX-- Blue Bell wants you to let the good times roll with their latest flavor release.
The famous Brenham-based creamery has released a flavor called 'Mardi Gras King Cake'. While the flavor has been released before in areas like Alabama and Louisiana, it will be released at all of the stores which sell Blue Bell.
“We have been making Mardi Gras King Cake since 2012, but the flavor has mostly been sold in areas known for the celebration such as Louisiana and Alabama,” said Carl Breed, corporate sales manager for Blue Bell. “Last year a grocery store in Louisiana posted about the flavor’s arrival on its Facebook page and we started receiving requests from all over the country. After that, we decided to share this festive flavor with everyone in our distribution area.”
The flavor combines cinnamon cake flavored ice cream, tasty pastry pieces and a colorful cream cheese swirl with festive candy sprinkles to replicate the famous cajun dessert. It's also a combination of their Mardi Gras and King Cake flavors released in 2004 and 2006 respectively.
This flavor is only available for a limited time in the company's signature half gallon tubs.

Having tried King cake several times, I'll be happy to let someone else eat the ice cream. The cake just isn't that good. The biggest deal about King cake was whomever got the piece that had the little plastic baby inside was required to host next years King cake party. I didn't see any mention of plastic babies in the ice cream.....probably a liability/choking issue.
