UPDATE: 11/27/18 6:45 p.m. The box the suspect was carrying wasn't a TV! According to San Angelo Police, it was a dollhouse.
Here's the official statement:
November 27, 2018 — Just after 4:00 p.m. this afternoon, a San Angelo Police Officer conducting patrol noticed a recently reported stolen vehicle traveling on the roadway.
The Officer initiated a traffic stop on the stolen vehicle, a white 2012 Mitsubishi passenger car, near South Bryant and West Avenue Q; however, the driver failed to stop and a vehicle pursuit ensued.
The slow speed pursuit ended in the 1700 block of Kenwood Drive where the suspect then exited the car and fled on foot.
Additional Officers converged on the area and quickly established a perimeter. During the search, several citizens aided the Officers by pointing out the suspect’s direction of travel. The suspect was eventually located in the 1900 block of Austin Street and taken into custody without incident.
The suspect, identified as 24-year-old Landon C. Beatty, matched the physical and clothing description of a package theft suspect that the Department released on social media earlier this afternoon. The released photographs show Beatty stealing a package from the porch of a residence on Grandview Drive before loading it into the stolen Mitsubishi.
The stolen package, a KidKraft Shimmer Mansion 30-Piece Dollhouse that was a Christmas present for a little girl, was located inside the recovered stolen vehicle and later released. The recovered stolen vehicle was also released to the registered owner.
Beatty was charged with Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle, Class B Misdemeanor Theft, and Evading Arrest.
SAN ANGELO, TX-- A suspect driving a stolen car was arrested after failing to stop for officers and fleeing on foot just after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday.
It turns out the suspect was photographed stealing a big screen TV from a San Angelo residence just hours before and those pictures were shared on Facebook by the San Angelo Police Department.
The suspect was driving the same white four-door sedan and photographed stealing the TV and getting into the driver's seat holding the oversized box.
The San Angelo Police Department says the pursuit began when the driver of the stolen Mitsubishi failed to stop for a traffic stop near Ave. Q and S. Bryant Blvd.
The suspect then ditched the car and fled on foot in the 1700 block of Kenwood.
The foot pursuit ended in the 1900 block of Austin where he was arrested.
As of right now, the suspect faces charges for stealing the vehicle and evading arrest. Police say more charges could be levied pending investigation.
The San Angelo Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division is leading the investigation.
This is a developing story and SAPD Public Information Officer Tracy Gonzalez said more information will be released.

I ordered two smart TV's from one of our local entertainment/electronics stores. I'm not sure what the store, or the delivery people were thinking, but I was shipped two unwrapped TV's which I found leaning against my front door when I arrived home.
Some delivery services require a signature, or will leave a 'sorry we missed you' notice, along with the address and times you may pick up your packages. I've gone through these procedures for a bottle of $20 vitamins, I'm not sure why more precautions weren't taken for 1k worth of merch.
In the Northside, you'll see disheveled characters cruising around on bikes, eyeing houses during the day, and then again throughout the night, until daybreak. They sure as hell aren't out for exercise. My neighbor had laundry and old flip flops taken from his porch.
It's a dirty game. Merry Christmas.

Permalinkwhere it belongs. And that is on this meth head doing his Christmas shopping at others expense.
It is best to get signatures but that is not really feasible on every package.
Just because it's there doesn't mean any piece of trash can come get it.
Big D I don't know if you have taken all of the necessary precautions on your high $ medicine but I would call your provider and mention biting dogs and that you will not be responsible for packages without signature.
And then their is the part about tracking and watching for your delivery.
