FREDERICKSBURG, TX -- A World War II P-51 Mustang crashed Saturday afternoon in a parking lot in Fredericksburg, TX killing the pilot and passenger.
KTXS is reporting the plane was performing aerobatics before it crashed into the parking lot at The Terraces at Creek Street Apartments at 3:15 p.m.
The Mustang damaged several vehicles in the parking lot. No one on the ground was hurt.
The Pacific War Museum in Fredericksburg tweeted that the victims were veterans. “We are saddened by the unfortunate accident that happened (Saturday) that claimed the lives of two veterans.
At this time we have further information.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the cause of the crash.
The National Transportation Safety Board is the lead agency investigating the crash.
Officials have not released the names of the veterans who were killed.
