Member of Texas House Wins Re-Election from Houston-Area Jail

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX-- A member of the Texas House of Representatives won re-election while sitting in the Montgomery County Jail, 45 miles north of Houston, according to a report from KXAN.

Rep. Ron Reynolds, D-Missouri City, was running unopposed in Texas House District 27. He tallied 47,305 votes in the election.

Reynolds was booked into the Montgomery on Sept. 7 for a year-long sentence following a 2015 conviction and series of appeals. His five charges stemmed from ambulance chasing in order to solicit clients, according to KXAN's report.

The sitting lawmaker wasn't forced to resign following the convictions since they were misdemeanors. However, if he were to serve the full sentence, Reynolds will miss the 86th legislative session which begins January 2019.

Uneducated voters, especially those that just vote strictly by the party, are the worst kind of voter. Apparently 47,305 morons voted for this guy only because he had the word democrat in front of his name. I don’t care what party you affiliate with. Just do yourself a favor and educate yourself on the candidates or don’t vote at all. Oh and stop voting for the party they run with. Vote for the person based on their platforms or don’t vote at all.

Elected representatives work for you, folks. Don't worry bogging them down or about sending too many letters. Se habla español.

And Rita, even though you didn't ask, Dan Patrick is Lieutenant Governor.

I'm not going to call you an idiot, but it is tempting.
