SAN ANGELO, TX -- A new local coffee shop is hitting the ground running, just after opening on Labor Day September 3, 2018.
Located across from the San Angelo football stadium, the café gets a lot of traffic from college students as well as nearby businesses. Call in orders are also welcome.
Amara Montez, a Barista at Brew LaLa, says that “business is doing well. We just hosted a kid’s birthday party and provided a special drink for her and her friends.”
Brew LaLa has several unique things about their coffee shop. “We order our coffee beans from the company we use and grind it ourselves. I’ve had customers say that our coffee is stronger than Starbucks, and that is because of our process,” Montez said. “We also have a Pumpkin Spice syrup that we can add to any drink.”
The café offers many discounts and specials for their customers. 10 percent off will be given to not only ASU students and military, but is also for teachers, nurses and first responders. They have $1 grilled cheese sandwiches on Tuesdays for all students and $3 bottomless coffee for anyone who chooses to stay for a while.
Another unique aspect is that there is more than one owner. Two ladies who were friends first decided to go into business together, and their husbands joined as well.
“One our specials is Affogato, which is ice cream with shots of espresso on top. We also have a Reese’s Frappe that we make, and our most popular drink is the Zebra Mocha which is white and milk chocolate mixed together in a mocha,” said Montez.
They also serve teas, hot chocolate, paninis, bagels and muffins. Soup will be added to the menu in the winter.
To give the coffee shop an even more hometown feel, the café is partnering with the ASU Art Department and will be displaying students’ artwork on the walls.
Residents are encouraged to book parties, bring in church groups and office meetings. A group can buy a coffee carafe to keep at their table instead of getting individual drinks if desired.
Choose to drop by or stay awhile in the laid-back atmosphere, while searching the floor to ceiling menu to find what hits the spot. Brew LaLa Café is open Monday through Friday 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sundays from noon to 8 p.m. Free Wi-Fi is available. It is located in the Concho Corner shopping center at 2609 S. Johnson St.
