Big Lake Wife Arrested for Beating Husband into "Vegetative State"

BIG LAKE, TX — A 51-year-old Big Lake woman is accused of beating her husband into a “vegetative state,” the Big Lake Wildcat reported Friday morning. Frieda Zuberbueler was arrested after Reagan County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the ER at the local hospital there on a report of spousal abuse. There, deputies found her husband unresponsive.

According to the Wildcat’s report of the arrest affidavit, the wife knew her husband, Stephen Zuberbueler, was on blood thinners. “Freida told [Deputy] Hammer she knew that one bad incident could kill him and any bleeding might cause his death,” the Wildcat reported.

She was released on a $25,000 bond??? What the hell?? She nearly beat her husband to death, and he will likely die from the sounds of it. Why are courts setting the bonds so low?? Why is she out on bail at all??

I noticed that my prior response to this has been taken down. Is that because I criticized Live for slanted/biased reporting on another issue? Re: the Zuberbuler case, you have no idea what is in the woman's heart. She is a good person at heart. This is a horrid twist for a mother who lost a son a few years ago (yes, she is emotional due to that loss) and who happened to do something in a time of anger that you construe to be ongoing. Shame on you for your ASSumptions.

You said: “She is a good person at heart.” I’m sure all good people bludgeon their spouse to death. You sir/ma’am need a serious checkup from the neck up! Who cares what happened previously!! That gives her absolutely no justification for anything. You are just as sick as she was. Take her to her lethal injection!!

And you need an education if you only read and believe the headline about bludgeoning. Were you there? Neither was I. But after at least reading several accounts and looking into it as a friend, I found the reports to be a slap to the head of a person who was on blood thinners. So rather than condemning you as a sicko who gets off on others' misery, I'm hoping that you never do anything regretful that makes the head lines. Blessings.
