Expedition Hits Stop Sign in Four-Way Stop Confusion

SAN ANGELO, TX-- San Angelo Police responded to a two car crash at the intersection of Howard St. and Junius St. on Thursday.

A white Ford Expedition was reportedly southbound on Howard and a red Chrysler Town and County minivan was westbound on Junius.

The Expedition was pushed into a yard.

According to the police, both drivers said they were stopped at the four-way stop. Both drivers said the other disregarded the right of way before hitting the other.

Because there were no other witness statements, police say no citations were issued on the scene.

Both drivers were checked out on scene and released by EMS.

I’d say car on left was at fault suppose to yield always to car on right of you Or it used to be that way in defensive driving

I still remember this one clearly. Two vehicles travelling perpendicular to each other arriving at a 4-way stop simultaneously requires the vehicle on the left to yield to the vehicle on the right.
In other words, if you look right and see a car that stopped at the same time you did, he has the right of way and you must wait for him to clear the intersection before proceeding.
It happens all the time and so many people do not follow that requirement.
