ANSON, TX — Jury selection is underway for a capital murder trial in Jones County, according to KTXS.
More than 1,400 people were summoned for jury selection for the capital murder trial of Dillion Gage Compton, 24.
The potential jurors were summoned to the Anson High School Auditorium due to the high number of people in the jury pool.
The Jones County District Attorney is seeking the death penalty. Compton is accused of killing a corrections officer Mari Johnson. She was killed in July of 2016 at the French Robertson Prison Unit in Abilene.
Compton’s trial is set to begin October 1 in Anson.
