Although there have been a lot of improvements in the last few years to help working women, a local group has found that there is still a long way to go.
On April 15th,Tuesday, the Texas Businesss Women of San Angelo (TBWSA) met for an "Unhappy Hour" at 6 p.m. at The Black Swan to demonstrate that women are still in the red, a TBWSA press release states.
According to the release, women still only make .77 cents to the dollar for what men make for doing the same job that a man does. There are still a lot of corporations that will hire a man for a higher position before they will a woman. And on the political scene, men are still the majority. There are still 15 states who do not have an Equal Rights Amendment to protect women.
Texas Business Women have been in San Angelo for over 90 years and contiually help fight for the rights of working women. The group meets every second Thursday of each month at Peppercorn Grill at 6 p.m. and has a speaker who present issues that will help women to improve their lives.
The Network Luncheon is on the 4th Tuesday of the month at noon at Peppercorn Grill. This month it will be on April 22. All women are invited to attend.
