Odessa Teen Mom Charged with Capital Murder in the Brutal Death of her 3-month-old Daughter

ODESSA, TX -- 19-year-old Klarissa Ramirez of Odessa has been charged with capital murder in the horrific killing of her 3 month old daughter..

Deputies responded to Medical Center Hospital on a call on April 16, 2018 regarding "Injury To A Child".

The parents advised officers that they had fed their daughter and placed her in a baby seat in the living room and walked away but when they returned a couple of minutes later they found the child unresponsive.

The child was taken by the parents to Medical Center Hospital ER where the child was treated for a fractured skull, and fractured ribs on both sides of her torso.

Ramirez was interviewed by investigators due to the injuries were consistent of abuse and she admitted that she caused the injuries by squeezing her torso and striking her head with a dresser drawer.

Ramirez took sole responsibility for injuries caused to the child.

Ramirez was arrested and charged on May 8th for felony injury to a child.  She bonded out on a $25,000.00 bond the next day.

The child was transported to University Medical Center in Lubbock where she was treated, but later succumbed to her injuries on May 3.

An autopsy was conducted by the Lubbock County Medical Examiner and the findings were that a closed head injury was the cause of death.

Ramirez was charged with capital murder.

She was arrested Wednesday and bond set at $250,000.00 .  She remains in custody at this time.
