What is Going on at Bush's Chicken?

SAN ANGELO, TX — San Angelo has been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the new Bush’s Chicken on Knickerbocker Road since announced in May of 2017.

The ‘Chicken District’ is home to popular eateries known for their fried chicken, like Cane’s and Chick-Fil-A. The idea of the intersection of Knickerbocker Rd. and S.Jackson St. being called the ‘Chicken District’ came after word had spread that Knickerbocker would be home to the new Bush’s Chicken. But what is going on at Bush’s Chicken?

Many people have noticed that all construction activity at the Bush’s location has halted completely. At least 6 weeks has passed since any kind of activity at the location.

Rumor spread that the permits office for the City of San Angelo had messed up and caused delays to construction and the delays to construction caused Bush’s Chicken to pull out of the deal. Al Torres, the Building Official for the city, said “we have no idea why they have stopped construction at Bush’s Chicken.” The building permit application was approved in May of 2017.

Karen Threlkeld, the Public Information Officer for TxDOT San Angelo, notified us that all permits for the location have been approved.

The general contractor, John Flippo, explained that he had received “a call to stop construction” but no reason was given for why.

So, this leaves us with one question. What is really happening at Bush’s Chicken?

The last thing we need is another trans fat and sodium laden restaurant to choose from in this town. People will go and eat the food then later wonder why they have so many health issues and prescriptions to take.

Maybe word got out how much they suck compared to the other two major chicken places( Cains, Chicken Express). Here in Midland they are just terrible.

Maybe Jimmy Johns sub shop can buy it so that they will have 2 stores they can close in a couple of months. Since the one on Sherwood Way opened, I bet they haven't sold enough high priced cold sandwiches to even pay their light bill since they opened...........

We need another greasy chicken place in this town. Texas is obsessed with chicken. Do we have a Panera?

Anyone who eats at Cains is crazy! They dont even know what gravy is. Terrible chicken!

I have ne heard of Bushs chicken. But do not think any place can do better than Chic Filet and Popeyes. The spicy chicken tenders at Popeyes are really good if you like spicy. I have never been to Cains and do not plan to go nor do I plan to go to Bushs if they build here. However, Jimmy Johns is just as good as Firehouse Sub. We went in to get an order to go and got quick service. We have been to Firehouse sub twice to pick up orders and both have been wrong, Yes is was quicker at Jimmy Johns since everyone was across the street but they also deliver too. The prices were the same. It might be nice to have a Cracker Barrel or just a family owed place where someone can cook good home grown food. Turnips, squash, okra and cabbage sounds good to me. But then I was a kid raised in a small town and most everyone had gardens and back then you ate at home every meal.
