STERLING CITY, TX -- Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers are investigating a two vehicle crash south of Sterling City Saturday evening that blocked traffic four hours. Sunday afternoon, DPS spokesman Trooper Justin Baker confirmed there were multiple fatalities.
According to our reporter at the scene yesterday, two vehicles, possibly both SUV's, were involved in the crash just south of Sterling City in Sterling County on U.S. 87 southbound toward San Angelo.
The crash happened on the wide turn on U.S. 87 that occurs just outside of the city limits of Sterling City. See map:
Preliminary reports show one SUV crossed over the median and struck the other SUV.
DPS Troopers were on the scene and are investigating the cause of the crash.
We will update this story as new information becomes available.

It just confuses the old Doc to no end as to WHY does San Angelo Live ALWAYS put the following declaration at the end of some story ? ... "We will update this story as new information becomes available. "
You can bet you're sweet bippy that this will never happen, ..... EVER !!!
Go back as far as you can in previous stories (or wait until future stories are written), and just watch...... You will see that it is a complete farce that nobody at San Angelo Live will ever come back or think twice about putting that line in one of the stories they wrote and actually ever report an update to it.....

PermalinkI agree with you Dr.D ... and I'll add my own thoughts, it seems that San Angelo Live also has the mind set that the readers of San Angelo Live News ... take the weekends off and so does the News! To the staff of San Angelo Live; the "NEWS" and the "READERS" of San Angelo Live do not take time off ... just because it happens on a weekend!

PermalinkI guess they figure we don`t care by the time an update becomes available?

Permalinkthe DPS has not released any information on this crash that happened less than 18 hrs ago on a Saturday. As soon as they do, we will have something to report. Until then, rest assured we will update this story when more info is available.

PermalinkFolks, look around, nobody else is even covering this story. Used to be the DPS had a very strict time line to release information to the media. That has changed over the years...and now it seems, they will give it out when they want to give it out. Your complaints should be leveled at the DPS...maybe you can make a difference.

PermalinkThere are 3 obits in the Standard-Times with same last name - husband, wife and child. Maybe related to this accident??

PermalinkThey did all die on the same day...it would seem if they were not fatalities that would be a story in itself.

PermalinkUntil the DPS decides (in its aggravatingly slow moving process) to officially identify the accident victims, anything else is conjecture. It could very well be them, but maybe not!
