COLEMAN, TX — A concerned citizen alerted the Coleman Police Department about a suspicious couple riding a motorcycle at a local convenience store the afternoon of March 29. When police approached, the couple fled on the BMW bike, leading multiple law enforcement agencies on a high-speed chase through three west Texas counties.
According to Coleman Police Chief Anthony Smith, the duo was seen circling around a convenience store near the intersection of TX 206 and E. Walnut St. in downtown Coleman for an extended amount of time. During which time, the duo stopped, and three people walked up to meet them. The three subjects left a short time afterwards on foot and the duo left on the motorcycle. The convenience store’s video surveillance system caught the three subjects who were on foot on camera and Coleman PD is attempting to identify them.

About 20 minutes after the meeting in the convenience store parking lot, the duo on the bike was back at the store. That is when a 9-1-1 call alerted police of the suspicious couple on the bike.
A Coleman police officer was dispatched to the convenience store to question the duo. But, as the cop approached in his car, the duo on the bike took off at a high rate of speed, blowing through a stop sign one block south at the convenience store at the intersection of Cedar and TX 206. The Coleman PD officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the duo on the motorcycle, but they didn’t comply.
A chase initiated southbound on TX 206 and the Coleman PD officer reported speeds in excess of 100 mph as the chase continued southbound on US 67 towards Runnells County. Coleman PD stayed with the duo until a Runnells County Sheriff’s Deputy intercepted the duo on the motorcycle just outside the city limits of Ballinger.
Texas DPS joined the chase along with Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office Deputies as the motorcycle crossed into Tom Green County.
Once in San Angelo, the duo on the bike, a man driving and a woman riding on the seat behind him, meandered through north San Angelo at speeds in excess of the posted speed limits with an armada of Sheriff, San Angelo police, and DPS cruisers and SUVs in pursuit.
The duo made it back onto the frontage road of the Houston Harte Expressway westbound and eventually dumped the bike in a wooded area just to the east of Kiser Carpet. From there the duo ran on foot about three-quarters of a mile north and west until they were both apprehended by a State Policeman assigned to the San Angelo State Park at a Baptist church on Mercedes St.

Identified as the fleeing motorcyclists were Shane Curry, 32, and Victoria Vencil, 33. Both are from Florida and both are still in the Tom Green County Jail. Curry is being held on $10,500 in bonds for evading arrest with a previous conviction. Vencil is being held in lieu of $10,500 in bonds for evading arrest/detention.
