Central Drops Another Game Before Rebounding in Lewisville Tournament

LEWISVILLE, TX-- The Central Bobcats saw their losing streak hit double digits when they lost 6-0 to Frisco on Friday night at the Lewisville Tournament before rebounding with a 4-2 win over Wylie on Saturday.

The Bobcats stayed level with Racoons of Frisco High with six hits apiece. But three runs in the first and two runs in the second inning propelled Frisco past Central.

Oscar Nino was the only Bobcat with a multi-hit game in the loss by going 2-for-3 at the plate. Spencer Burress was charged with the loss for the Bobcats after six innings of work where he struck out 10 batters but allowed six runs on six hits.

In their first game on Saturday, the 'Cats trailed 1-0 after one inning before scoring four unanswered runs across the second, third and fourth innings to take a 4-1 lead.

Jonathan Limon and Nixon Brannan both had two hits in the win over Frisco. Limon went 2-for-2 at the plate with an RBI. Brannan went 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Micheal Cruz threw 104 pitches in the complete game decision where he struck out seven and allowed just two hits to the Racoons.

The Bobcats improve to 5-13 after the split between the two games.

Maybe they could have played better if tax dollars weren't paying for them to stay at a $350 per night per room hotel.....in case none of you are aware, this entire team was playing at Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine, so yea, they were probably exhausted from all the water park excursions! Maybe try a motel 6 or something, the DFW area has MULTIPLE places to stay for a MUCH lower price tag than what this school just spent on their vacation!

It has come to my attention that when the San Angelo Central baseball team was in the metroplex area for this tournament they booked rooms for the players and coaches at The Great Wolf Lodge! Really? The rooms at this place average $350 a night! If this has become a norm then we as taxpayers should not have to bear the burden of these expenses. There needs to be oversight on taxpayer funded trips, especially sports related trips. If this continues I feel that I and all taxpayers should have a choice on whether we pay taxes to SAISD especially since my kids do not attend school at SAISD.
