Central Bobcats Draw Short End of UIL's Realignment

SAN ANGELO, TX-- The Central Bobcats will rack up the miles these next two seasons after the University Interscholastic League announced the 2018-2020 realignment on Thursday, placing Central in District 3.

District 3 is comprised of Abilene (3-7), Euless Trinity (11-3), Haltom City (6-5), Hurst Bell (1-9), North Richland Hills (11-3) and Weatherford (0-10).

After playing in the "Little Southwest Conference" for the last two years, Central will welcome Abilene and Weatherford to their district in 2018 while also staring down four Fort Worth area schools.

The most menacing team for Central is the storied program of Trinity. The Trojans went 11-3 with a flawless 7-0 district record en route to a Regional Final berth against State Champion Allen High School.

Despite the travel, Central will likely relish in this opportunity against Metroplex school.

Central's magical 2017 season ended at the hands of Metroplex school Mansfield in the Area Round of playoffs. That loss left a sour taste in the mouth of the underclassmen on the Bobcat's roster.

With Central in District 3, and Allen High School put in Region 2, the Bobcat's potential playoff path looks promising with Arlington schools in District 4 and a likely date with an old district foe in the Area Round.

Head Coach Brent Davis was out of town trying to set a non-district schedule for the Bobcats in 2018. 

Meanwhile, the rest of Central's old district (Amarillo Tascosa, Midland, Midland Lee, Odessa, Odessa Permian and Frenship) stayed together in District 2.
