Tom Green County Sheriff's Deputies have responded to a shooting at a residence east of San Angelo at the 6100 block of FM 380. Shannon Medical Center's Airmed 1 has been dispatched, according to the Tom Green County Sheriff's Department.
We'll have more details as events unfold.
Update 2:21 p.m.
The call for the sheriff to respond rang out at 1:18 p.m.
Update 2:30 p.m.
Sheriff's deputies were approximately two blocks south of FM 380 investigating. We were told that Sheriff David Jones is on the scene too. But we were stopped by what appeared to be a volunteer fire department worker, preventing us from getting closer.
Update 2:57 p.m.
An unconfirmed report is that there is one dead male and one critically injured female.
Update 3:10 p.m.
Confirmed one dead adult male and a critcally injured female. Investigation is ongoing, but it appears to have been a domestic dispute. The weapon used was a handgun. The female victim is in surgery.
Update 3:25 p.m.
Sheriff David Jones says of the two victims, "I understand that they've been together for about 32 years." Airmed 1 was on the scene earlier to airlift the critically injured female to Shannon. The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Judge Eddie Howard, Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace.
Update 3:35 p.m.
Judging from the activity of the investigating officers who are clustered around the residence, this was probably a domestic dispute between the male and female. There is no hunt for a third party suspect, and no one at the scene has indicted that there is a 'shooter on the loose.' The names of the victims have not been released to the media.
Update 4:10 p.m.
The more exact location of this incident is on "old" FM 380, or 6100 block of Old FM 380, San Angelo, Texas
"Veribest High School" is incorrectly marked by Google. This incident occurred at a residence.
Update 4:33 p.m.
The Sheriff confirmed that the case is an Attempted Murder-Suicide. The 58-year-old male shot the 54-year-old female before turning the gun on himself, ending his life. The female is still alive, according to Sheriff David Jones.
The Shannon Medical Center Helicopter Airmed 1 was called to the scene for the female, but upon arrival, the woman had been stabilized inside a San Angelo Fire Department EMS ambulance. Medics on the scene determined that it would have been more risky to transfer the patient to the helicopter than to directly transport her to the hospital in the ambulance. The medic crew from Airmed 1 went with the patient in the ambulance and the helicopter flew back with just the pilot.
Update 5:34 p.m.
Sheriff confirmed that the woman, named Tyree Timm, 54, died in the hospital. Male shooter's name was John Ellis McDonald, 59. He is deceased due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound, the Sheriff said.
Update 5:50 p.m.
A neighbor, Scarlott Nance, said she heard two gunshots in succession. "They sounded like a rifle," she said. McDonald was a painter and avid golfer, she said. "I'd see him out over here picking up golf balls from time to time," she said. Timm, she thought worked in the medical field.

PermalinkThe caption of the school is provided by Google. We didn't put it there and can't take it out because the map is an embedded Google map. Should we remove the map and the context the map provides to the reader because it has a school location mislabeled? If enough folks complain, I'll remove it. My opinion is that the context is so valuable that Google's mislabel can be overlooked. --Joe
