Plumbing Problems Postpone Panda Express Til Tuesday

SAN ANGELO, TX -- Panda Express lovers will have to wait a little longer for their Orange Chicken with fried rice and chow mein.

San Angelo Panda Express General Manager Paul Adre said late Friday that plumbing issues have forced the fast casual gourmet Chinese food restaurant to postpone opening the new restaurant until Tuesday morning, January 2, 2018.

The popular and much anticipated restaurant located in front of the new H-E-B on Sherwood Way has social media all abuzz.

As we reported earlier, Panda Express was scheduled to open earlier this week but the actual opening date has been a moving target.  This morning, Adre said they were prepared to open for business Sunday, but that has been moved to Tuesday morning because of the unforeseen plumbing issues.

According to the restaurant’s website, Andrew Cherng opened the first restaurant in Glendale, CA in 1982.  The franchise now has 2,000 locations including restaurants on Guam, Dubai, Mexico, Canada and South Korea.

Here's the menu.

Panda Express will be greatly appreciated by the people of San Angelo. The largest location by volume is the one located in Terminal E at Houston Intercontinental airport. I eat there almost every time I travel through Houston. Several years ago I had the privilege of flying with the manager to California. He told me that the corporate goal was to provide the most nutritious and freshest Chinese food in America. I also learned that the “shelf life” of their vegetables is thirty minutes. After that, the vegetables are discarded and a fresh tray brought in. Welcome to San Angelo Panda Express.

What a waste to have fresh vegetables thrown out after only 30 minutes. Maybe they could donate them to the "soup kitchen."

As someone who works in the restaurant industry, it's not that simple. No soup kitchen in the country accepts precooked food. It just doesn't happen. If you're so concerned, go buy some canned goods and donate them.

I did not know soup kitchens could not accept pre cooked foods. Thanks for the info, and I do donate can goods to various food banks. No malice was intended by my comment. I still think it is wasteful to throw away fresh food after only 30 minutes.

You guys need better writers. There is no such thing as a fast, casual, and gourmet food. Those adjectives do not go together. It's like saying "good fat" or "nice rape".
