Turning 18-Wheeler Crushes Mustang

SAN ANGELO, TX-- The San Angelo Police Department responded to a crash at the intersection of Chadbourne and 7th Street Thursday morning.

A red 2005 Ford Mustang GT smashed into the underside a 2015 Freightliner that was trying to make a right turn on to Chadbourne.

Two occupants, both drivers of each vehicle, were involved in the crash according to Bryan Bylsma of SAPD.

Bylsma said the Mustang may have been trying to pass the 18-wheeler on the right side.

The driver of the Freightliner said they had their turn signal on, but the driver of the Mustang said they never saw a turn signal according to Bylsma's statement.

No citations have been issued for the crash. Miraculously, nobody was injured.

Police blocked off the frontage road after the accident. The frontage road has since been reopened.

I am glad no one was hurt. Big trucks are bigger than cars. That does not mean they always have the right of way. I was not there so don't know if he had the right turn signal on or not just going by what article said and since so citation's were issued you would guess that might be right. Common sense should tell all cars to give trucks the right of way just for the reason they are bigger! I have never been in an accident with one but I have always been probably over considerate to big trucks to avoid an accident. Don't think I do not get irritated with them sometimes because I do. Some of them think they own the road and some for very respectful. Just remember they cannot always see you.
