According to Atmos Energy spokesperson Shelly Burnett, a contractor was drilling in the area and hit a four-inch gas line.  Burnett says no customers lost gas and crews are working on repairs now.  They should be completed Tuesday evening.

Atmos used San Angelo Firefighters to secure the scene.  According to reports, the third party contractor was working for the San Angelo Independent School District.

No one was injured.

I thought it was a crime to have something like this happen if you didn't call the number to locate utilities before digging ? And so who pays for all the repairs, my SAISD tax dollars because someone couldn't follow the law ? And now what happens to the party deemed guilty of violating this law ? ? ?

For once, I agree with you. The company doing the deilling should mnow better also!
