SAN ANGELO, TX — The storied, old historic café that blossomed to life in the late aughts as a blues bar is about to undergo another transition with the introduction of a new business.
Derrick and Jenna Hoffman told us to Nov 8, they are going to make a run at a downtown restaurant and lounge at the former Sealy Flats. “Instead of being a bar with food, we want to create a great restaurant that also serves drinks,” said Derrick. The Hoffmans have nurtured Shenanigans on Sherwood Way for over a decade from a small neighborhood bar into one of the largest bar and restaurants in San Angelo.
This time, they are looking at fronting the restaurant first, then the bar concept.
They take over the café in December and will be open for private parties through the holiday season while they await approval of the new restaurant’s liquor license. Once the license is in hand, which they estimate will be mid- to late-December, they plan to open the restaurant to the general public.
Called KNOSH!, the business will serve lunch and dinner. On weekends they plan to be open until midnight.
Jeanna said only a few items from the Shenanigan’s menu will move over to the new restaurant, as they are building a unique food experience there. She also said the restaurant will feature live music occasionally.
The former Sealy Flats location, founder Rod Bridgman’s “Café,” is a unque venue with a small dining area and outdoor patio. Several restaurants have come and gone there, including Bridgeman’s Sealy Flats. The location holds much nostalgic goodwill for the downtown nightlife scene.
