Emergency Manager and San Angelo PD: No Gas Shortage, There is NO need to Panic

SAN ANGELO, TX -- From the San Angelo Police Department:  

“The run on local gas stations has been caused by false reports of gasoline shortages, the Texas Division of Emergency Management has told San Angelo’s local emergency management coordinator.

Gasoline supply pipelines between Houston refineries and a Dallas distribution center were temporarily shut down to avoid possible contamination caused by damage from Hurricane Harvey’s flooding. Those supply lines have since returned to full operations.

“There is no need to panic,” Emergency Management Coordinator Steve Mild said. “People can conduct business as usual.”

Mild stressed his information comes directly from TDEM’s State Operations Center, which received details from the Dallas distribution center. The stir, the State Operations Center reported, seemed to have been ignited in Dallas by two minor media outlets there.

UPDATED 8/31/2017

AUSTIN, TX -- Texas Rail Road Commissioner Christi Craddick told KXAN, "We have gasoline.  We have enough gasoline across the country and we have enough gasoline in Texas.  So don't run out and fill up your tank, you're ok.  What we are now seeing is companies as well as the logistics world looking at how you get it from the refinery through the pipes to the truck, to your local station.  If your local gas station doesn't have gas, go down the street."

SAN ANGELO, TX -- San Angelo is not running out of gas.  A spokesperson for Regal Oil confirmed Thursday afternoon that the San Angelo wholesale gasoline distributor who provides gas to Alon and 7-Eleven is not running out of gas and there is no shortage.

While some refineries are shut down temporarily, Regal Oil has gasoline and continues to receive shipments.  While supplies may be temporarily limited, San Angelo is not running out of gas.  

Some gas stations have run out as social media continues to spread rumors leading people to rush to fill up their tanks, but gasoline is available.
