Affidavit: KIXY-FM Radio DJ Accused of Sexually Assaulting 2 Angelo State Students

SAN ANGELO, TX — A local KIXY 94.7 FM radio station disc jockey was arrested Monday on two counts of Sexual Assault of a Child. Both victims are identified as being “younger than 17,” in the arrest affidavit obtained by San Angelo LIVE!

The first female victim, age 16, disclosed to San Angelo police detectives that she was attending an Angelo State University event where Samuel Cantu, 24, was working. Angelo State University holds an annual "Rambunctious Week" Welcome Back Bash before the fall classes begin. Cantu's alias "DJ Shots" is listed as the host of the event. Following the Bash, one of the victims began “following Cantu on Instagram and Snapchat where they began having conversations,” according to the affidavit.

On Aug. 28, both victims agreed to be picked up by Cantu and he drove them “to an unknown location off of Knickerbocker Rd. near Lake Nasworthy,” the affidavit reads.

In addition, Cantu brought alcohol and the three began drinking, even though the two girls were minors.

Sometime thereafter, Cantu drove the victims to his residence where the three continued drinking and played "cell phone drinking games."

Following this, “[Cantu] pushed the [first] victim on to his bed,” and had sexual intercourse with her, the affidavit reads.

The second victim told investigators she witnessed Cantu having intercourse with her friend. She said that when her friend went to the bathroom, Cantu had intercourse with her as well.

After this, both victims got dressed and Cantu drove them back to their residence, the affidavit states.

Cantu admitted to having intercourse with the second victim in an interview with San Angelo Police Detective Jeremy Cannady. It was not specified in the affidavit if Cantu admitted to having sex with the first victim.

Cantu was booked into the Tom Green County Jail just after 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 28. His bond totals $70,000, $35,000 for each victim.

This morning, Cantu was listed as a member of the staff at KIXY-FM. By 11:30 a.m. this morning, his profile was taken down from their website. At the same time, Cantu's Facebook page was unpublished. Cantu is known as "DJ Shots" and was hired as a DJ at a variety of local bars and events.

The arrest affidavit only accuses Cantu of these charges, He will face the legal justice system that will be required to prove his guilt.

Is it common for 16 year old girls to be enrolled at a university? Sixteen would seem to suggest grade 10 or 11 in high school?

It doesn't say they were ASU students - just that they were at an ASU event.

it does say they were ASU students-- it's in the headline. of course, according to the "affidavit" which seems unlikely to have been given to a tabloid like Live! haha

He should use Trumps lawyer. After all maybe he just grabbed them by the...........he is kind of a celebrity.

What in the world does Trump have to do with a DJ in San Angelo getting caught with his pants down?! That's a pretty big stretch don't you think?! LET IT GO and go on to something else.

Old Salt has a point. Many supporters of Trump say they don't care about his "locker room talk" and actions (that he bragged about, involving sexual assaulting women). Unfortunately, silence from his supporters regarding his words and actions, and Trump's own lack of concern for his sexual assault comments, seem to imply that sexually assaulting people is ok (if you're famous, of course). To act like there is no connection between the "Leader of the Free World" bragging about sexually assaulting women, and the actual act sexual assaulting of women, is ignorant at best. Did this guy sexually assault these minors directly because Trump bragged about sexually assaulting women? Of course not. But having the president and his supporters blow off his sexual assault comments/bragging as 'locker room talk' certainly hasn't helped make women safer from predators like this DJ. Remember folks, OUR CHILDREN ARE WATCHING AND LEARNING FROM TRUMP.

“I’m automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait,” Trump said. “When you’re a STAR, they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab ’em by the p****y. You can do anything.”

It has nothing to do with Trump. Just recommended he use his lawyers. Maybe even Bill Clinton's lawyers.

I doubt that many children follow Trump's tweets. or watch him on TV. It's more likely that the next generation is learning mostly from social media which IS NOT USED by their parents. One way to tone down the crude effect of the Trump presidency is to refrain from injecting his name into every single discussion.

Maybe he can get trump to pardon him. Everything the president does has an effect. In every discussion.
