Update at 10:40 a.m.
Public Information Officer Tracy Gonzalez said, at approximately 9:50 a.m. this morning, SAPD officers dispatched to the Capri Apartments for the report of a stabbing, as initially stated. When officers arrived, they were directed to an upstairs apartment where they located a 33-year-old female victim suffering from a stab wound.
Officers applied aid and transported the victim for assessment and treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
"We have since learned that the suspect fled the location prior to [police] arrival," said Gonzalez.
Because this is an active investigation, Gonzalez said details into the stabbing will not be released. Members with the SAPD Criminal Investigations Department and the Crime Scene Unit are currently investigating the scene.
During the initial call, there were reports that the victim had stab wounds on her arms, and other units were called out for crowd control. However, Gonzalez could not comment further. She said she was not provided information on the issue of crowd control, but she too heard that call. She did say though that since this occurred at an apartment complex, it's not uncommon for residents to come out and see confusion, someone injured, and when first responders first arrive on scene, they don't know who these people are.
"We don't know who's a suspect; we don't know who's a victim; we don't know who's a party to what, so you might have one or two officers arriving on scene initially, and we have to keep those officers safe so we can determine who all of those moving pieces are," Gonzalez said.
As for the suspect, Gonzalez reiterated that the person is a female and she left the scene, but that's all the information she has right now. Once more details become available, LIVE! will provide an update.
