SAN ANGELO, TX – It’s that time of year, San Angeloans. After tomorrow, the City Marshal’s Office and San Angelo Police Department will be showing a bit of tough love to area residents with outstanding warrants.
Are you on the list? Check the current warrant list here.
Not to mention, those who fail to take care of any outstanding warrants will have their names published in the local paper.
“The threat of having your name published in the newspaper and of law officers actively seeking to arrest you prompts people to take care of their warrants,” said Chief City Marshal John Gonzales.
He added that the annual roundup is part of a statewide effort, and, after the names are published, law officers from numerous jurisdictions will work around the clock to execute these warrants.
The reason for the roundup is simple. The Municipal Court has a backlog of about 28,600 outstanding warrants involving some 8,300 defendants dating back to 2000.
City officials said, “The misdemeanor warrants cover traffic violations; criminal offenses such as issuance of a bad check, theft criminal mischief and assault; and City code citations for garbage, weeds, junk and unsanitary conditions. The warrants also include charges of failure to appear for a court date, to pay a fine or to comply with a court order, and contempt of court.”
For those people who get arrested, they have only two options: “pay in full or go to jail,” said Gonzales.
The good news, for those people wishing to avoid having their names published in the local paper, San Angelo LIVE! has a listing of outstanding warrants, which comes from the City of San Angelo’s website. Therefore, there’s no need to wonder. To see if your name is on the list, simply click here and type in your name.
People can also call (325) 657-4368, but why wait?
If you see your name on this list, you have until Tuesday to clear your name before the damage is done.
Payment of fines can be made in full at municipalonlinepayments.com/sanangelotx, by phone with a credit card at (325) 657-4365, or in person at the Municipal Court, 110 S. Emerick St. The Court is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Mondays through Fridays. The court accepts cash, cashier’s checks, money orders or credit card. Personal checks are not accepted.
Comments
It should be noted the warrant list online is NOT the list that will be published in the Standard-Times. The list online still contains the names of people who, after hearing the news their names would be published in the newspaper, have contacted the Municipal Court and done what they must to clear their warrants. The warrant list to be provided to the Standard-Times and gosanangelo.com will be continually updated through Saturday so the names of those who have cleared warrants won't be published.

PermalinkThe data comes from the municipal court and it updates when the city updates the data, and is as published on the website you are in charge of, Anthony. So if the data are wrong, the city website is wrong.

PermalinkMr. Wilson,
We ALL know that none of you like sanangelolive.com because they actually report USEFUL news to the community; the articles that your buddies at the Standard-Times and gosanangelo.com are afraid to publish. There is no reason for you to get on here and ATTEMPT to correct stuff just because you have a "City of San Angelo" title; in fact......that reason alone should encourage you to hide and not be heard! We, the citizens that use this site, LOVE the articles; the fact that nothing is held back or censored. The fact that sanangelolive.com is NOT worried about your bitching and moaning, the news is getting to us!
Thank you, Joe Hyde, for continuing to keep us informed of what the City tries to hide from us!
(I know this "rant" went in several different directions, but I think it makes sense.....)
