ODESSA, TX – A former Chief of Surgery at Odessa Regional Hospital, Robert Kevin Lynch, 54, was charged with three counts of animal cruelty. According a local news source, Lynch confessed to poisoning three dogs.
Lynch, who is a licensed general surgeon, deliberately poisoned the dogs with raw meat mixed with Advil, antifreeze, rat poison and grapes.
The dogs, Yuki, Brownie, and Zoe were treated by Dr. Andrew Schwarz. Yuki had kidney failure, while Brownie went into respiratory cardiac arrest. Both dogs sadly passed away. Zoe survived her injuries.
"Helping people like that and watching them go through something like that, and the emotion, that's the hard part; that's the part that really sticks with you,” said Schwarz. “It was kind of a crappy day."
A search warrant of Lynch’s home revealed all the items used to poison the dogs. No further information is available regarding Lynch’s motive for poising the dogs.

I really want to see an update on this story. Right now I am infuriated, and I want to see what this person's justification was for committing this stupid, cowardly, inhuman act.

PermalinkUntil proven otherwise I am going to consider these poor animals to be innocent.
Since this guy is at the top of the Good Old Boy network the odds of anything actually being done to him are infinitesimal. With the exception of the public humiliation and a fine it is doubtful he will be receiving any actual punishment. At least we know more about him and he has already been punished more than our art thief.
