SAN ANGELO, TX - A San Angelo driver flipped her SUV on Loop 306, close to Sherwood Way this afternoon.
San Angelo Police Officer Brian Bylsma said he was dispatched to a major crash with possible entrapment in the area just after noon.
Upon arrival, there were two TGCSO deputies on the scene and a GMC turned upside down.
Bylsma said the investigation determined that the driver of the GMC was on the ramp from Sherwood trying to get on the Loop. The roads were wet because of the recent rainfall.
“She was driving at a speed considered to be unsafe,” said Bylsma.
As a result, the driver began to slide, overcorrected, went sideways off the ramp, across the median, and when she hit the drainage ditch, she flipped over.
“She’s got some possible minor injuries,” said Bylsma.
The driver crawled out of the vehicle, and complained to be real sore, added Bylsma.
Medics transported the driver to the hospital for medical treatment. She may be issued a citation for unsafe speed and no seat belt, said Bylsma.
Note: In his official statement, Officer Brian Bylsma identified the vehicle as a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe; however, the vehicle is a GMC.
