San Angelo Drivers Stall Vehicles on Flooded Road

SAN ANGELO, Texas - Despite the numerous warnings of “turn around; don’t drown,” a few San Angelo drivers felt they could overcome the flooded roads this afternoon. As a result, they found themselves stalled in the middle of the roadway.

Just before 4 p.m., and after heavy rain flooded the normal areas on College Hills, Dispatch called out San Angelo Police and emergency responders to Vista del Arroyo and College Hills. Three vehicles were stalled in the roadway.

Responders were able to help move the three vehicles from the roadway, and they set up barricades between Millbrook and Vista del Arroyo. They also set up barricades by McDonald’s on Southwest Blvd. Despite the barricades, however, drivers continued to disregard them and attempt to make their way through the flooded areas.

An official at the National Weather Service said there is nothing major about this storm. In fact, we are expecting thunderstorms for the next few days; however, local law enforcement asks, as they always have, for drivers to please not attempt to beat the high waters. They lose almost every time.

A $500 fine if they get stalled and pulled out would be a strong enough deterrent.

Sounds good to me, $500 fine. Put up sign up with barricades that reads: You Cross / You Stall / You Pay / $500
Maybe the stupid people can read.

Last rain like this a city cop was sitting at the McDonald's on Southwest and popped everyone that went around the barriers.
