Crimes: A Fight, Warrants and Man Arrested for 138th Time

Since our last update, local law enforcement arrested 32 people in Tom Green County. Included in those arrests are Christopher E. Noland, 35, Deric Leavitt, 38, and Anthony J. McCarthy, 55.

Officer Tracy Gonzalez, public information officer for the San Angelo Police Department, said officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of E 24.5 St at around 10 p.m. in reference to an active fight. 

“Officers located 35-year-old Noland, who was not willing to pursue charges on the unknown suspect(s) who committed the assault against him,” said Gonzalez. “He was transported to Shannon Medical Center by ambulance for evaluation and treatment of minor injuries.” 

Upon his release, Noland was arrested for an outstanding Grand Jury Indictment for Felony Forgery.

This is Noland’s 7^th arrest in TGC. His other arrests include terroristic threat of family, resisting arrest, theft, arson and criminal trespass. 

At 11:30 p.m. last night, officers also conducted a suspicious person stop at the Pecos Street Car Wash. Officer Gonzalez said the area is a target for coin-op burglaries. 

Police identified the individual as Leavitt, who was arrested for a City Warrant and transported to the Tom Green County Jail. 

“During a search of his person, officers located small tools that are generally associated as burglary tools,” said Gonzalez. 

However, no recent burglary was discovered at the location/time of arrest.

This marks Leavitt’s 9^th arrest in TGC. His previous crimes include public intoxication, driving with an invalid license, theft and drug paraphernalia.

In the next case, at around 9:40 p.m., officers observed 55-year-old McCarthy, who was intoxicated in a public place on East 7^th & North Chadbourne, and was considered a danger to himself because he could not stand without falling.  

Gonzalez said, “He was intoxicated on alcohol. He additionally had four confirmed warrants issued by the San Angelo Municipal Court. [McCarthy] was arrested for Public Intoxication and the warrants.” 

This is McCarthy’s 138^th arrest. Since 1994, Mccarthy has been arrested primarily for public intoxication, criminal trespass and resisting arrest.

Including these three individuals, and out of the 32 arrests, 20 people had outstanding warrants, eight had new complaints, and four people had both new complaints and warrants.
