Around 10:00 a.m., San Angelo Police made contact with the driver of a passenger car with no license plates at the Super 8 Motel located at 410 W. Ave L. The driver was identified as 25-year-old Joaquin Maldonado.
"It is worth noting that this driver was reported to be passed out inside the vehicle in the roadway at a previous location just prior to this stop," said Officer Tracy Gonzalez, public information officer for SAPD.
Gonzalez added that during the traffic detention, Maldonado made several furtive movements in the vehicle and was asked to step out. However, he was uncooperative and provided officers with an incorrect name.
"Maldonado was confirmed to have an outstanding arrest warrant for Parole Violation; perhaps this is why he failed to provide his identity," said Gonzalez.
Maldonado was arrested for his outstanding warrant and Fail to Identify Fugitive from Justice. This is still an active investigation and detectives are following up on Maldonado’s possession of the vehicle and the nature of several items that were located inside the vehicle, Gonzalez noted. Additional charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.

Reminds me of an old Doobie Brothers Song "Rockin' Down The Highway"
"Got those highway blues, can't you hear my motor runnin'
Flyin' down the road with my foot on the floor
All the way in town they can hear me comin'
Ford's about to drop, she won't do no more
And I smell my motor burnin'
Underneath the hood is smoke
Can't stop, and I can't stop
Got to keep on movin' or I'll lose my mind
Oh, rockin' down the highway
Oh, rockin' down the highway
Oh, rockin' down the highway
Oh, rockin' down the highway
The highway patrol got his eyes on me
I know what he's thinkin' and it ain't good
I'm movin' so fast he can barely see me
Gonna lose that man, I know I should
I gotta kick in my pedal
Make my Ford move a little bit faster
Can't stop, and I can't stop
Got to keep on movin' or I'll lose my mind
Oh, rockin' down the highway
Oh, rockin' down the highway
Oh, rockin' down the highway
Oh, rockin' down the highway
Can you just imagine a living life where all you do is "RUN" to stay ahead? Gotta be rough! Well now, this felon will have sleeping quarters, 3 squares a day, clothing, and some time to reflect on his past life! "Rockin' Down The Highway"
