Get ready San Angeloans, American Rock Royalty is coming to town in just a few short weeks and now is the time to get your ticket(s). The Beach Boys will perform live for the first time ever at the Foster Communications Coliseum on Wednesday, August 24.
Formed in Hawthorne, California in 1961, the Beach Boys' distinct vocal harmonies and lyrics reflect the Southern California youth culture of surfing, cars and romance.
Many musicians have covered their songs, including David Lee Roth with "California Girls," Red Hot Chili Peppers, "I Get Around," and even The Ramones with "Surfin' Safari," but there's nothing like the original masters who have 29 studio albums to their credit, most recently "That's Why God Made the Radio" (2012). If you have a pulse, you know this band.
Others have come close, but not many bands have The Beach Boys' staying power of 51 years. Although some of the players have changed over the decades, they are still the musical epitome of good times and great sounds. So grab your "Little Surfer Girl;" jump in the "Little Deuce Coupe;" let's "Keep the Summer Alive;" and go listen, dance, and sing along to some "Good Vibrations."
