19-Year-Old Stabs San Angelo Man in the Back

A 19-year-old San Angelo teen, Jesus Pablo Salinas, is behind bars today after stabbing a 23-year-old man in the back early Sunday morning.

Officer Tracy Gonzalez, public information officer for the San Angelo Police Department, said officials are investigating the stabbing that occurred at the Bellagio Apartments, 2508 Sweetbriar Drive.

Police were dispatched around 2:15 a.m. to the apartment complex, and upon arrival, they located a group of people standing over the victim who was suffering from a stab wound to the back. San Angelo Fire Department Medics arrived and transported the 23-year-old man to a nearby hospital for treatment. His current condition is unknown.

“Officers learned that, prior to the stabbing, the victim was involved in a physical altercation outside one of the units,” said Gonzalez. “While investigating the incident, officers located the suspect still on the property.”

The officers identified Salinas and arrested him for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. They then transported him to the Tom Green County Jail. Gonzalez added that officers located and recovered the weapon used in the assault.

This incident is currently under investigation and no other information is available for release at this time, said Gonzalez.

This was listed under "New Complaints". Prithee, can someone explain how this offense rises to a level which requires police action?

Just another one of those situations gone bad! This city has got to get a grip on the violent acts of crime being committed right beneath our eyes! Just what the hell are all these "teens" doing out so late in the evening into the early hours of the morning? DRUGS, DRUGS, DRUGS, DRUGS??? This thug will soon find his way into our court system and suffer the consequences! "BACK STABBER"

Jon, what does your rant have to do with a stabbing incident? Perhaps the stories are not jiving?

For one, because the legal system no longer recognizes "mutual combat," or duels, so there's no definitive way to resolve the conflict once you know who you're dealing with. The law does, however, permit passive aggressiveness and snark. So by all means, have at that.

You could also try using reason, but that's not really in vogue. I'd take the rhetorical road. Stay calm and safe.
