There are many items people have bought and collected over the years that will bring in a bit of cash today. In fact, some of the items are so basic that people may not realize they're sitting on a small fortune.
Here are a few of those items.
1. Beanie Babies
When Beanie Babies first came onto the scene in 1993, some people hopped on the bandwagon and decided to start buying the different collectibles. Now, it is astonishing how much one of these novelties will go for.
Some of the Beanie Babies, going for the most amount of money, are the Princess Bear, Peace/Garcia the Bear, Mystic the Unicorn, Peanut the Elephant (Royal Blue), and Nana the Monkey. There are a few more, but these collectors items are some that were special editions, or part of the original nine that are no longer being manufactured.
The Princess Bear was meant to be part of the fundraising model for The Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund. Because of its rarity, the Princess the Bear model is considered to be the most valuable Beanie Baby, with some being sold on eBay for almost $500,000. Also, the rare Peace/Garcia Beanie Baby, is recorded to have sold for $30,000.
Other Beanie Babies, depending on the authenticity and the condition they are in, could be sold at a range of $1,000-$3,750, depending on the Beanie Baby.
Please note that not all Beanie Babies can be sold at these prices, so it's best to ask someone who is an avid buyer of Beanie Babies to find out which ones are worth the sell.
2. Old VHS Disney Movies
It wasn’t long ago when people had to put the brick sized VHS into a VHS player and then have to rewind it so they could watch it again. Well, some VHS videos are actually worth a pretty penny.
Disney VHS classic movies like Beauty and the Beast, Snow White, Aladdin, and some other classics are being sold for over $2,000. If people have a couple and are willing to sell them in bulk, that may be more worthwhile, for some people have been selling these videos in bulk for about $10,000.
The place people have been selling these items are eBay and Bonanza.
3. Rare Vinyl Records
Playing vinyl records is coming back and people who are avid record listeners are paying big money for classic vinyl.
According to rateyourmusic.com, a few records worth big money include Bob Dylan The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan, worth $20,000-$30,000; Sex Pistols God Save the Queen/No Feeling, worth $12,000-$20,000; and The Misfits Horror Business, worth $2,500-$10,000.
Every original Beatles album is worth between $2,000-$25,000. The original Beatles albums are collectors’ items now.
Vinyl records are going to continue to be collectibles, and people who appreciate music, will pay good money for that vinyl sound.
Shops that buy and sell records, like Mad Styles Vintage Shop, would be a place to start. Having classic records that can still play all the way through without skipping is a hard thing to find, but even the record sleeves can be valuable.
4. Coins
Many people collect classic coins, and if a collector sits on them long enough, they could be worth a good amount of money. There are many different coins that have passed in and out of the U.S. economy for years, and when they are circulated out, some don't find their way back to the Federal Reserve. So, they are valuable and rare.
The Ben Franklin half-dollar, which began circulating in 1948 and contains an image of Ben Franklin on one side, and a bald eagle on the other is worth $12 - $125.
Buffalo nickels are also pretty rare and have the tendency to turn up in circulation once every 25,000 nickels. They are worth 50 cents to $1 each. The Gold American Buffalo coin is worth $1,345.08 from the U.S. Gold Bureau.
Other coins are rare enough where they are being seen sold for more than what they were originally worth, like the 1942-1945 silver nickel, now worth $.56 - $12.25, and the 1943 steel penny for $.45 - $10.
5.Vintage Toys and Games
Old toys were thought to be junk and many people tend to trash or sell them at garage sales. The people who decided to put some of those toys away, however, might have the opportunity to make some money.
Some vintage toys and games that are worth money now include the following:
- An Original Monopoly Game from the 1930s: $3,125
- American Doll ‘Molly’: $5,000
- First Edition Barbie: $23,000
- Original Furby: $900
- Jurassic Park Action Figures: $1,250, but prices vary
Overall, doing research and talking to people who have experience with collecting items is the best way to ensure people get what their items are actually worth.
Comments
Hello. You noted the price of a gold coin from an online vendor called the US Gold Bureau which should not be mistaken with the official US Mint of US Goverment (us mint.gov). Many online gold vendors are aggressive and predatory in their investment advice. In the case of the US Gold Bureau they make a hard sell of over priced coins and or overpriced diamonds related to their US Diamond Bureau site. They love to target the elderly with their predatory schemes. We have seen sever financial losses of local West Texas families who fallen for the aggresive sales techniques of these vendors. If there is any questions please feel free to contact me. William Cano. Canos Diamonds and Coins.
