According to Investigating Officer Webber, the crash was caused when a female driver of a blue Hyundai came through the intersection on A&M and disregarded a red light. The car impacted the silver Honda Accord driven by the pregnant woman. In turn, the Accord was shoved into a white Chevy Impala with a male driver.

While the pregnant woman requested medical attention, the drivers of the Hyundai and the Impala did not. The driver of the Hyundai, however, did receive a citation for disregarding a red light.

In the meantime, two lanes heading south on West Avenue N were closed during the cleanup of the crash.

More than likely this is just another one of those accidents caused by some foolish driver who was preoccupied with more important matters. SAPD needs to work harder to find out the "what and why" these accidents occur instead of just responding and writing up incident reports. "TEXTING WHILE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF DRIVING"

People are constantly running the light here. It has nothing to do with texting or driving distracted, people just flat out don't care. Police don't seem to come through this intersection very often and the drivers in this area know it, so they just run the light because they know they can get away with it.

I see people constantly running red lights at just about every intersection here in town. That's why even when I have a green light I always wait a few seconds for the inevitable car or two to blow through their red light
