San Angelo Police Officer Palmer said “the old proverbial that happens time and time again” took place this afternoon on Avenue N, close to Bryant Blvd.
Right before 2 p.m., the driver of a Fusion was attempting to pull out of the Kentucky Fried Chicken parking lot. The driver of another vehicle in the outside lane of traffic near the curb on Avenue N motioned for the driver to go ahead and pull out.
However, not all drivers were aware of that motion.
“She starts out to make a left turn to go west on Avenue N, and this Mustang was on the inside lane of traffic eastbound on Avenue N; [that’s when] they attempted to violate the law of physics,” said Palmer.
As a result of attempting that violation, the Fusion and Mustang collided.
Officer Palmer said the driver of the Fusion suffered minor injuries and an ambulance was called, but no one went to the hospital. However, the driver of the Fusion did receive a citation for failing to yield the right of way from a private drive.

I think it would be more accurate to say....they successfully proved a few of the laws of physics. Specifically Murphy's Law.

PermalinkSadly, I see this happen day in and day out. Our "incompetent" City Engineers need to look at placing signs that would prevent traffic turns in areas that clearly present a threat for accidents. This is not only a problem at this location but several others in our City. Come on "CITY ENGINEERS!" How difficult can this be?? "DITTO THAT"
