This morning, a Republic truck making its rounds of trash pickup caught a blazing surprise.
A representative with the company, who wished not to be named, said somewhere during the driver’s route, he picked up something hot and caught the trash on fire. The worker said the truck had just picked up a large dumpster when someone notified the driver smoke was coming from the back of the truck. He got out in the parking lot behind Henry’s Diner and noticed the fire.
“He was unable to compress the load in the body of the truck to extinguish the fire,” said the representative.
Republic workers had to dump out the garbage and that created a bit of a cleanup issue for the workers.
The whole load didn’t catch fire, the worker said. There was just a hot spot within it.
The representative added that the Fire Marshal went out to the scene, but there was no way they could tell how it started.

Throw a rock at me, Brandy but when I read "distinguish the fire" it made me laugh. We all make mistakes but that one was funny to my warped sense of humor. I appreciate your writing skills and I know that this had to be written in a hurry. That is why I am leaving "hot pocket" alone.

PermalinkYeah, I admit that was a great one. As I wrote this quickly, I had three people demanding my attention in my office and our scanners going off all at once. I always say I can't do more than one thing at a time, and I stick to that. Not surprised I made such an interesting choice of words. As for the "hot pocket," I put that in quotations for a reason since it came from the recording. I will say though a Hot Pocket sounds kind of good right now. I'll graciously bow out to this one :).

PermalinkSure hope it didn't hurt the trash truck because if it did, our trash rates would go up another $10 per month so they could fix it.......
