SAN ANGELO, TX — City offices will be closed Monday, May 26, in observance of Memorial Day, with normal operations resuming Tuesday, May 27.
Trash collection will continue as scheduled with no interruption. The landfill will be closed Saturday, May 24, but will reopen on Monday, May 26.
The Municipal Pool, located at 18 E. Ave. A, will open for the summer season on Saturday, May 24, at noon. It will be open for the holiday from noon to 6 p.m. on Monday. Regular hours will be noon to 6 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday. Entry fees must be paid by card only. Private party reservations can be made at sanangelo.gov/civicrec. Fort Concho will host a Memorial Day program at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 26, on the Parade Ground in front of the Headquarters building. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will move to the Commissary building.
Army veteran Charles Anderson will serve as guest speaker. His daughter, who is combat-disabled, flew medevac missions with the 101st Airborne and served as an air assault commander with the 10th Mountain Division.
Memorial salutes will be conducted by the Fort Concho Living History program and the Sons of Confederate Veterans. Refreshments will be provided at the conclusion of the program by the Pocahontas Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, which is organizing the event.
Fort Concho will also be open for self-guided tours from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Memorial Day.
