Electrical Smell in Veribest Elementary Gym Prompts Emergency Response

 

VERIBEST, TX — An electrical odor detected in the elementary school gym at Veribest ISD on Friday prompted school staff to relocate students to the cafeteria and request emergency assistance.

According to the district, all students are safe and accounted for. The Wall Volunteer Fire Department, Mereta Volunteer Fire Department, and the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene to assess the situation.

Veribest ISD announced that student dismissal took place at 12:30 p.m.

No injuries have been reported. Authorities are continuing to investigate the source of the smell.
