SAN ANGELO, TX - The Angelo State University Woodwind Chamber Ensembles program will present its annual spring concerts on Monday and Tuesday, May 5-6, in the Carr Education-Fine Arts (EFA) Building at 2602 Dena Drive.
Both concerts will begin at 7 p.m. in the Carr EFA Building's Eldon Black Recital Hall and are free and open to the public. The Monday, April 5, concert will feature the ASU Reed Trio and the ASU Clarinet Choir.
The Reed Trio comprises ASU music students Cole Campbell on oboe, Becca Mieske on clarinet and Molly Scurlock on bassoon. They will perform:
- "Pastorale" by Darius Milhaud
- "Spider Suite" by Jenni Brandon
- "Dina Pieces en Trio" by Jacques Ibert
- "Six Dream Songs" by Eliane Aberdam
The Clarinet Choir includes ASU music students Nick DeLeon, Guenevere Davenport, Gavin Martinson, Becca Mieske, Lauren Ochoa, Gabriela Perry and Natalie Torres. They will perform:
- "Rhosymedre" by Ralph Vaughn Williams
- "Three Latin Dances" by Patrick Hiketick
- "Dark Romance" by Daniel Dorff
- "Fantasia" by Paul Harvey
- "Mock Morris" and "Spoon River" by Percy Grainger
The Tuesday, April 6, concert will feature the ASU Double Reed Ensemble and ASU Saxophone Quartet. The Double Reed Ensemble includes music students Cole Campbell, Kelsey LaCroix and Ivette Morales on oboe, and Molly Scurlock, Sebastian Tardiff and Nelle Woodruff on bassoon. They will perform:
- "In the Hall of the Mountain King" from "Peer Gynt" by Edvard Greig
- "La Mismatch Pena" by Astor Piazzolla
- "Laissez paitre vos betes" by Marc-Antoine Charpentier
The Saxophone Quartet comprises ASU music students Titus McIntosh, Cooper Young and Gregory Wilson, along with Dr. Timothy Bonenfant, professor of music. They will perform:
- "The Entertainer" by Scott Joplin, arranged by Bonenfant
- "Tapas" by Mark Mellits
- "Feeding the Giraffe" by Eric Bernhardt
- "Andante et Scherzo" by Eugene Bozza
- "Let 'Em In" by Paul McCartney
- "Strange Humor" by John Mackey
The Woodwind Chamber Ensembles program is directed by Bonenfant, and the Double Reed Ensemble is directed by Dr. Taylor Gambill, adjunct instructor of music.
