Woman Struck and Killed by Train in Abilene, Third Fatal Incident in a Month

 

ABILENE, TX — A woman was fatally struck by a train Tuesday morning in the 3300 block of North First Street, marking the third train-related death in Abilene within the past month.

Police responded to the scene around 10:30 a.m. after receiving a report of a pedestrian hit by a train. According to preliminary information, the woman had exited her vehicle and approached the tracks when she was struck by an oncoming train. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The victim has been identified as 39-year-old Nicole Moncrief of Abilene. Her next of kin has been notified. Police said the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.

This fatality follows two other recent train-related deaths in Abilene. On March 25, an unidentified man was found dead near the tracks, believed to have been hit by a train. On April 15, another man was killed while walking along the tracks.

Emergency officials are urging residents to remain vigilant and exercise caution near railroad crossings.

The investigation is ongoing.
