Lamesa Woman Killed Crossing Street in Wheelchair

 

LAMESA, TX — A woman in Lamesa was killed after being hit by a vehicle while crossing the road in a wheelchair on Sunday, April 20.

The Lamesa Police Department, with help from Texas DPS, responded to the crash in the 800 block of North Bryan Avenue at around 8:47 p.m.

According to a press release, Janette Rene Collazo, 56, attempted to cross the street when she was hit by a vehicle driving southbound.

Collazo was transported to Medical Arts Hospital ER by EMS, but later succumbed to her injuries.

The identity of the driver has not been released.

This investigation is ongoing.
