HENDERSON COUNTY, TX — A 2-year-old child was seriously injured Saturday after being run over by a lawn mower in a rural part of Henderson County in East Texas.

The incident occurred when one of the child’s family members was mowing the yard with a riding lawn mower, according to Henderson County Sheriff Botie Hillhouse.

The child reportedly had run toward the mower and grabbed a handle before being run over.

It is not known if the person driving the mower was an adult.

The child was rushed to a nearby gas station before being taken to a local hospital and eventually to a children’s hospital in Dallas.

The severity of the child’s injuries are unknown, but they are expected to recover, according to reports.

The Henderson County Crimes Against Children Task Force is investigating the incident.
