Two Men Arrested After Child Shot in Southwest Odessa Home

 

ODESSA, TX — Two men have been arrested in connection with a shooting that left an 8-year-old boy critically injured inside a southwest Odessa home on Monday afternoon.

According to the Odessa Police Department, 24-year-olds Santos Martin Roman and Anthony Gallegos Ramon Jr. were taken into custody and charged with multiple felonies, including Injury to a Child (Felony 1), three counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (Felony 2), and Deadly Conduct (Felony 3).

Police responded to a residence in the 1000 block of W. Monahans at approximately 12:12 p.m. on April 7 following reports of a disturbance and shots fired. Investigators believe Roman and Ramon arrived at the residence during the disturbance and fired several rounds.

Inside the home were two adults and two children. The 8-year-old male victim suffered a gunshot wound and was transported to a local hospital before being airlifted to Lubbock with life-threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported.

Authorities said Roman and Ramon acted together during the shooting. Both were arrested and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center. The investigation remains ongoing.
