Lincoln Middle School Student Arrested on Gun Charge

SAN ANGELO, TX — A Lincoln Middle School student was arrested Friday after he attempted to flee from police while carrying a handgun, according to a press release from the San Angelo Police Department.

The incident began when a school resource officer at Lincoln Middle School responded to a report of an altercation on campus at about 3:50 p.m.

Upon arriving at the scene, the officer made contact with a 14-year-old male student, who was observed in possession of a vaping device.

When the officer attempted to detain the juvenile, he fled the scene on foot. As the juvenile ran, the officer observed him discarding property into a nearby field.

After apprehending the student, the officer went back and searched the area where the property was discarded. The officer discovered a handgun and a bag containing multiple vaping devices.

During the course of the arrest, the student also threatened to harm the officer.

The student was arrested and booked into the Juvenile Justice Center on charges of evading arrest, retaliation and unlawful carrying of a weapon in a place prohibited. He was also issued a citation for minor in possession.

I'm sure this student has a great home with a doting mother and a strong loving father.
