Andrew Graves to seek 119th District Attorney position

 

Local attorney Andrew Graves will seek the Republican nomination for 119th district attorney position.

“We have seen a call for a fresh perspective in the district attorney’s office in recent weeks, and I offer that new approach,” Graves said. “From my years of community service and growing up here, I can reflect and honor the perspective of the citizens of the 119th district when it comes to justice. I look forward to serving the people of Texas, particularly the citizens of Tom Green, Concho, and Runnels counties.”

The Republican primary will be held in March 2016, the general election is in November.

In general practice in San Angelo since 2005, Graves handles cases involving criminal law, child protective services, family law, juvenile law, wills, probate, and civil litigation.

Prior to that, Graves was a assistant felony district attorney in Tarrant County (Fort Worth) and a civil litigation defense attorney in Dallas.

His practice includes serving clients in Tom Green, Runnels, Concho, Irion, Sterling, Coke, Crockett, Sutton, Reagan, Upton, Pecos, Midland, Menard, Mason, McCulloch, Tarrant, and Lubbock counties.

The son of public school educators Bill and Linda Graves, Andrew grew up in San Angelo and attended local public schools. He is a 1994 graduate of Central High School, where he was honorable mention all-district on the football and baseball teams. He earned a cum laude bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech in 1998 and a law degree from Texas Tech in 2001.

Graves serves or has served on the boards of directors of the San Angelo Performing Arts Coalition, San Angelo Schools Foundation, United Way of the Concho Valley Community Investment Council, Angelo Civic Theatre, San Angelo Rotary Club, Ft. Concho National Historic Landmark, Downtown San Angelo Association, Tom Green County Young Lawyers, and Tom Green County Bar Association. He is a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, was selected to the Young Professionals of San Angelo 20 Under 40 Class of 2013, and serves on the San Angelo Area Foundation Scholarship Review Committee.

The 119th Judicial District of Texas hears cases in Concho, Runnels and Tom Green counties.
