Monahans Police Officer Arrested for Online Solicitation of a Minor

 

MONAHANS, TX — A Monahans police officer was arrested Tuesday following an investigation into online solicitation of a minor, according to the Monahans Police Department. 

Benjamin McGilvray was taken into custody by Special Agents with the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division (CID) and the Texas Rangers, according to a statement from Monahans Police Chief Kristofer Quintana.

McGilvray has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation. Authorities said additional charges are possible as the investigation continues.

The arrest was part of a joint effort involving the Monahans Police Department, DPS CID, and the Texas Rangers. No further details were released.

McGilvray faces a charge of online solicitation of a minor, a third-degree felony under Texas Penal Code 33.021.
