Texas Poised to Become Most Populous State by 2045

AUSTIN, TX— Texas is on track to surpass California as the most populous state by 2045, driven by a surge in residents relocating from the West Coast, according to new data from Realtor.com.

The report states that Texas has led the nation in population growth over the past decade, with factors such as affordable housing, rapid job expansion, and an increasing number of in-state homebuyers fueling the trend.

Texas is constructing more affordable housing than other states, and it boasts the fastest job growth in the country, according to the data. More than one in four home shoppers in the state are already Texas residents.

If current trends persist, Texas will claim the top spot in U.S. population rankings within the next two decades.
