SAN ANGELO, TX – The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning and Wind Advisory for all of West Central Texas on Wednesday due to dangerous fire weather conditions.
West winds will increase to 25-35 mph in the afternoon, with gusts up to 50 mph, prompting concerns over rapid fire spread, especially with dry vegetation in the region. The Wind Advisory is in effect from noon to 8 p.m., and residents are urged to secure loose outdoor objects and drive cautiously, particularly in high-profile vehicles.

The Red Flag Warning, which will be in effect from noon to 9 p.m., is due to expected humidity levels between 10-15%, combined with high winds, creating critical fire conditions. The NWS warns that fires will spread quickly once started and advises against outdoor burning, driving on dry grass, and discarding cigarette butts improperly.

Above-normal temperatures are also expected through Thursday, with highs in the 80s, before a cold front brings slightly cooler temperatures on Friday and Saturday.

Another round of critical fire weather conditions is possible on Friday as strong winds persist.
