Former Texas Deputy Arrested on Child Sex Charges

CONROE, TX – A former Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputy has been arrested and charged with online solicitation of a minor and sexual assault of a child after allegedly meeting a 15-year-old boy for sex multiple times. 

Landon Slatter, 42, was taken into custody Tuesday at the sheriff’s office and booked into jail on a $100,000 bond. It was reported that Slatter resigned from his position following his arrest.

The Montgomery County Precinct 3 Constable’s Office began investigating in January after the boy’s mother grew suspicious and hid a camera in her bedroom, where she allegedly recorded her son, now 17, having sex with an adult man later identified as Slatter, local media reported. 

Authorities reviewed the victim’s phone and discovered he had been in contact with multiple men on adult hookup websites, including Slatter. Investigators allege that Slatter first messaged the victim in July 2023 when he was 15 and later met him at a hotel for sex. The encounters allegedly continued at least twice more at the victim’s home.

During one meeting, the victim told police that Slatter asked if he was “really 18,” to which the teen said he was. Despite this, investigators claim Slatter was aware of the victim’s actual age based on evidence gathered from text messages and social media accounts. Texas law sets the age of consent at 17.

Authorities are also investigating at least two other men they believe may have abused the victim.
